Are you prepared to work collaboratively and openly for the benefit of young people?

If so, Bury Church of England High School would love to hear from you!

Bury C of E High School has recently joined the Bishop Fraser Trust, a C of E multi academy trust established in 2017. This is an exciting time to join us as it provides a great opportunity to work closely with the other schools in the MAT; sharing good practice and building on our ongoing progress.  We work closely with teaching hubs that train the outstanding teachers of the future. If you have a desire to progress into teaching, we would love to support you on this journey.

Currently the department supports around 20 pupils on an Education, Health Care Plan (EHCP) in addition to supporting a number of other pupils throughout the school who have range of special educational needs. This number may increase further.

Main Duties:

  • To work with and supervise individuals and groups of students under the direction/instruction of teaching and or senior staff, inclusive of specific individual learning needs, supporting target setting for students and enabling access to learning for all students.
  • Assisting in managing students, sometimes significant and challenging behaviour through the use of a range of strategies and techniques

The successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate flexibility, good teamwork and a commitment to the school’s value of ‘Let your light shine’
  • Enjoy working as part of a team and be able to communicate effectively with pupils, parents and staff;
  • Be committed to supporting the progress and wellbeing of pupils with special needs;
  • Quickly build rapport and effective professional relationships with both our young people and colleagues;
  • Enthuse and motivate colleagues and students to work hard and try their best;
  • Show an understanding of special educational needs within a school setting (including autistic spectrum, learning difficulties, behavioural and emotional difficulties);
  • Demonstrate personal resilience and role model those personal qualities we wish to instill in our young people.

In return we can offer:

  • A supportive and encouraging staff team
  • A paid premium to a Healthcare Cash Plan to claim back contributions towards dental, optical and other medical costs
  • 24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Programme
