Mental Health and Wellbeing

Welcome to our new page for all things around mental health and well-being within School. I’ve recently been appointed as the Mental Health Lead in School and over the coming months I’ll be speaking to many of you about ways you feel we can support you further with mental health and well-being services, and how we can continue to build a really caring, inclusive environment for you all.

Below you will find some information on places you can access support in and outside of school, and some key members of our community that may be able to help. There is also a link to log any concerns you have with your own, or others’, mental well-being.

As the weeks progress, I really want do build this page to have lots of help and resources to support you, so make sure to keep checking back.

Mr Guest

Introduction for 11 senior prefects

Hello everyone. My name is Bernice. I am a Year 11 Senior Prefect and also part of the Mental Health Team at BCEHS. Fun fact: I have six cats, I love singing and making artwork

Hello everyone. My name is Skye. I’m also a Year 11 Senior Prefect and part of the Mental Health Team at BCEHS. Fun fact: I have one dog, I love animals and learning new facts. I love acting.

As Mental Health Ambassadors our goal as a collective is to work with Mr Guest to ensure that pupils feel comfortable enough to speak out about their mental health and well-being, especially if they are struggling. We are here to support all pupils in school. Also, our work is to ensure School provides mental health services, raises awareness of mental health issues and creates a safe, supportive and friendly community within School.

We will work to create safe places around school so that students know where to go if they are struggling, and to make ourselves know so that you can come to us if you need help.

Place2Be’ Children’s Mental Health Week

9th February – 14th February

This year’s theme for Mental Health Week is ‘This Is My Place’ and you will be doing work on this in lessons.

“This is My Place” is the theme for Mental Health Week because it’s about belonging.

It means:

  • Feeling safe
  • Feeling accepted
  • Feeling like you matter
  • Feeling that you are welcome just as you are

Everyone needs a place where they feel they fit in. That place might be:

  • A group of friends
  • A classroom or school
  • A family
  • A club, team, or community
  • Or even a quiet space where they feel calm

When people feel like they belong, they are usually happier, more confident, and less anxious.
When people don’t feel they belong, it can affect their mental health and make them feel lonely or invisible.

So, “This is My Place” reminds us to:

  • Think about where we feel we belong
  • Help others feel included
  • Make our school a place where everyone feels welcome and valued
